Inside one of Hollywood’s glitziest nights.

Next Sunday kicks off award season, the time when Hollywood’s A-list typically don their finest and collect accolades from peers and colleagues. And the first one up is the Golden Globe Awards, hosted again by comedy duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. While this year’s ceremony is still determining how much can be live versus virtual, one thing’s for sure, those nominated will be killing it in their ensembles. Back in 2016, Olivia attended the ceremony with a lasting influence on red carpet style. Below, she shares unseen snaps and stories from the trip.
The first stop once we landed was to my dear friend (and superstar stylist) Rachel Zoe’s studio. My dresses hadn’t arrived at the hotel when we got to LA so I wanted to make sure I had some backup options for the red carpet and a fabulous after party frock. Rachel and her team were kind enough to lend me their goodies and after some digging, the perfect piece presented itself—a Giambattista Valli Haute Couture party dress with wings. I was on cloud nine until I remembered that my look for the main event hadn’t arrived. However, back at the hotel, the Delpozo had made it and was beautifully hung up waiting to be worn. When we entered, I noticed David Webb at the bottom of the hotel and popped inside to see if I could borrow some pieces for the ceremony and they generously obliged.
Words cannot say enough about my incredible glam fam, Daniel Martin and Lacy Redway. My dynamic duo swooped in to create a retro, yet modern take on classic Hollywood glamour befitting my dress. And since I knew we weren’t going to be eating for hours, I took the opportunity to nibble on some fries while in the makeup chair.
Red carpet ready and excited to see some stars on the carpet. I attended with one of my dearest friends Edward Barsamian who was documenting the whole experience for VOGUE and we photobombed Aziz Ansari. It wasn’t until later that Edward showed me the snap and then our selfie which had me laughing for days.
After the awards show it was time to get dolled up again for the afterparty. This time, I popped into a suite on location at the Beverly Hilton where Daniel and Lacy were ready and waiting to get me primed for the parties. We went for a more polished updo since my dress had some embellishments while I kept my jewelry simple with pieces from Verdura.
